After I did my first vaginal steam in 2011 I noticed significant improvements in my period. Several years later I started to sell vaginal steam saunas. I was surprised to find that my steaming-customers periods often started to mirror my period. This phenomenon was directly contrary to what I had been taught during adolescence--that each woman's period was individual and different and that it was sort of a luck-of-the-draw type situation. Instead, it appeared that the period variations disappeared once the period was pain-free and healthy.
Coincidentally, I came across an acupuncture text book that helped to spread light on the situation. I found out that in eastern medicine indicators of the period such as blood color, flow and cycle length shed light on a woman's overall health. By default, a healthy period from one woman to the next would be the same. Since I had personally observed this phenomenon I adopted the belief that there is a standard healthy cycle or perfect period.
Holly Leever, an acupuncturist with a practice in Tuscon, Arizona recently published a blog that further describes the perfect period.
